How Do I Export to QuickBooks?

by RetailEdge Moderator » Tue Jan 24, 2006 3:24 pm

RetailEdge can export some of its data to Intuit's QuickBooks® (QuickBooks 99 and 2000). To export data to QuickBooks you must first complete the following setup procedures: First choose Options from the Tools menu item. Then choose the QuickBooks tab on the Options page. You will have the option to type in the name of your QuickBooks Bank account you want to export RetailEdge data into and also whether you want RetailEdge to automatically ask you for a QuickBooks Export when you perform a complete closing. Note: RetailEdge's default QuickBooks Bank Account is set to a blank value. You should make sure that this account name is the same as the one listed in QuickBooks before you export your data otherwise the file will not be imported into QuickBooks. Second, setup the proper accounts in QuickBooks. The accounts you will need to create are: Income Account - "Sales" Expense Account "RetailEdge-Payout" Other Liability "RetailEdge-Store Credit" Other Liability "RetailEdge-Layaway" Other Liability "RetailEdge-Gift Certificate" Other Asset "RetailEdge-House Charge" RetailEdge will create the following subaccounts, vendors and customers when exporting to QuickBooks: Subaccount of Sales "RetailEdge-Taxable" Subaccount of Sales "RetailEdge-Non Taxable" Subaccount of Sales "RetailEdge-Shipping" Subaccount of Sales "RetailEdge-Drawer Adjustment" Customer "RetailEdge Store" Vendor "RetailEdge-Sales Tax" Importing the RetailEdge Export file into QuickBooks will make deposits to the "Checking" Account. The deposits will be received from the "RetailEdge Store (Store ID)" from the appropriate "Sales" subaccounts. RetailEdge will make adjustments to the Asset and Liability accounts created as well as to the Cost of Good Sold and the Inventory Asset accounts in QuickBooks. Two company files RetailEdge Sample Company - QB-2000.QBW (QuickBooks 2000 format) and RetailEdge Sample Company - QB-99.QBW (QuickBooks 99 format) have been included in your program directory (typically c:\program files\retailedge 7.0) so that you can see what RetailEdge's data will look like when it is imported into QuickBooks.
