Tip No. 011 - Maintaining Your Updates

by RetailEdge Moderator » Tue Jun 10, 2014 5:28 pm

We are finding many users on the Silver level software maintenance plan are not regularly downloading and installing the updates. Although the updates are only $5.00/workstation/month and you may not feel that they contain useful information, you should update your software when updates become available.

When an Update Is Available, Take it.

We don't always list all the changes that go into each release and try to limit the notes to the update highlights. So even if you don't see something you want you should update.

    Updates may include:

New Features. The majority of new features are suggestions from other RetailEdge users. So if it helps them, it will probably help you.
Security. Credit card and PCI security require you have to maintain and update your software. Security is a priority for us and should be for you too. Bad things happen to good people.
Stability. Operating systems and tools RetailEdge uses to communicate with other platforms/programs can change. Many times we change the program to make sure that these changes don't effect program stability.
Fixes. All software has bugs. Although RetailEdge 8 has been operating for over 9 years, there are always going to be things that can be fixed.

Updating is important and easy. Most of the time it just takes a few minutes. So the next time you see an update is available, please download and install it.
