RetailEdge won't start - Unable to Initialize Borland...

by RetailEdge User » Fri Jun 29, 2007 11:55 am

When I try to start RetailEdge 7.5, I get an error message that says something like "Unable to Initialize the Borland Database Engine - Error code
    251E". What should I do?

Click on Start. Click on Search (Find on older computers). Click on All Files and Folders. Type into the All or Part of the File Name field bdeadmin.exe
and hit the Search button making sure that it is searching your local c drive.
You should find the file located in c:\program files\common files\borland shared\bde. Double left click on it when you find it. Click on the Configuration Tab. Expand Configuration. Expand System. Left Click on INIT. Backspace out the value (probably 2048) for the SharedMemSize and replace it with
4096. Click onto any other line once. Hit the X in the upper right to Exit at which point it should ask you to Save it. Say Yes. That should do it.
