    loyalty program on receipt

    by SweetNicholas » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:21 pm

We run a loyalty program at our store and think it would be helpful if a customer's accrued dollars could be printed out on their receipt. This small feature could help drive business if a customer can see they are x dollars away from store credit/ etc. Does retail edge currently have this capability?

Thank you for the suggestion. This is one that is already in our database to be incorporated into the program at some future date.

In the interim, you already have the ability on the sales screen to view a customer's loyalty balance and carry over so that you can tell them right at the checkout how many points they need until they are issued the loyalty dollars.

How do you look that information up while on the sale screen? I don't see where that info would be located.
    Thank you!

This has been added to our list of suggestions. But the issue is more complicated than it would seem on the surface.

Loyalty dollars are batched and many people have different loyalty programs running. So you might have a loyalty program batch for a particular vendor (double $ loyalty for purchases made from a particular vendor), and your regular batch of $X for $Y of purchases. So calculating how close someone might be to a loyalty $ payout is kind of hard to determine sometimes.

In addition, there is a detailed record kept of every loyalty $ transaction (issuances, and spends). So when calculating total loyalty $, there has to be some calculations done. This can take time at the Point of Sale and we want to make sure that we don't do anything to slow this process down.

The carryover could be also shown and this is just a simple number and so we could definitely show that on a customer receipt. But it would not really accurately display the available loyalty dollars and carryover after the sale has been completed.

So there are a number of decisions that need to be made before we implement this feature.

    Thanks.
