Logic Controls PD3000 USB Display Pole

A few customers have reported problems when using a Logic Controls PD3000 USB Display Pole. This display comes with a USB driver that installs as a virtual com port. The driver was causing problems when exiting the RetailEdge application. On exit, the driver does not properly release the com port resources which can cause RetailEdge to hang while it is waiting for the virtual com port to be released.

Here's a work-around to get this display to work properly with RetailEdge:

    1) If you have not already done so, install the display driver. Make sure the USB cable is UNPLUGGED before running the driver setup.exe problem. Also, choose the virtual com port option.

    2) After the driver software is installed, plug in the USB cable. The Windows Hardware Found Wizard should start. When the wizard asks if Windows Update can search for software, select No and then press the Next button. On the next page, select Install software automatically and then press the Next button. When the wizard is done doing its thing, press the Finished button.

    3) Open the Device Manager, go the Ports, and identify the LCI USB Line Display PD3000 Com Port. Note the com port number used (e.g. COM3).

    3) In Printers and Faxes, add a Generic / Text Only printer driver and use the same serial port as the virtual com driver.

    4) In RetailEdge, edit the workstation settings. On the Display tab, select the "Via Windows Printer Driver" radio button. Then, select the Generic / Text Only driver and the correct Device Name.

    5) Restart RetailEdge.

The display pole should now work correctly and not cause a hang or freeze when existing RetailEdge.

If you have additional questions or are still experiencing problems with your display pole, please contact RetailEdge technical support.
