This is a pretty common question. RetailEdge tracks whether each workstation is on (InUse), in a sales screen (InSale) or closing (InClose). You can see this status when you view the workstation list from the Tools|Settings|Workstation menu item.
We do this because certain functions need to have unrestricted access to the files or need to ensure that no one else is changing data. For instance, if you are closing, we don't want to have someone else ringing in a sale as it would potentially change the value of the close. Or if you are doing a backup the tables will be locked as they are compressed and copied to the backup file. So someone should not be using the program as they might run into a table conflict.
That being said there are cases where a computer went down or is out for repair or simply shut off and someone did not properly exit out of a sales screen or the program in order to reset this value. So if you are sure no one is actually in the status you are being warned about, then you can press Ctrl-Alt-P (Purge Ret_users table) and reset the table. You may need to exit out of the program first.
