Updating RetailEdge on Windows Vista deletes the program

by RetailEdge Moderator » Wed Aug 22, 2007 12:06 pm

If you perform a RetailEdge Update by choosing Program Updates from the Help menu or are prompted to do a program update automatically and are running Windows Vista you should make sure you are logged in as a User that has administrative rights.

If you perform an update as a standard user the update process may delete the RetailEdge program file. This is caused by the fact that the update process is trying to replace the program in the program files folder that a standard user does not have access to.

If you inadvertently do the update as a non administrator, then you should perform the following steps.

    1. Download the following file to your desktop or some accessable folder on your computer. ftp://ftp.highmeadow.com/pub/Updates/RE ... ge_8_0.zip

    2. Open the compressed ZIP folder and copy or drag the RetailEdge program to the desktop.

    3. Copy the RetailEdge program to the installation directory (typically c:\program files\high meadow business solutions\retailedge 8.0 folder)

    4. Create a destop alias for the program by right clicking the program, choosing copy, going to the desktop and right clicking the desktop and then choosing paste shortcut.
