    Firewall Security

by RetailEdge Moderator » Tue Aug 14, 2007 2:52 pm

We recommend that you use a firewall in your business to prevent viruses or intrusions on to your system. Firewalls can prevent RetailEdge from accessing the database so you need to be careful when you install or turn on firewalls especially in a multi-workstation or location environment.

RetailEdge uses Ports 12005 - 12008 to communicate with the database. If you are using Windows Firewall, you should do the following:

    1. Turn the firewall on
    2. Uncheck "Don't allow Exceptions"
    3. Press the Exceptions tab
    4. Press the Add Port button.
    5. Add the following ports
    Name: RE-Data Port Number 12005
    Name: RE-Admin Port Number 12006
    Name: RE-FTP Port Number 12007
Name: RE-FTP Admin Port Number 12008
    6. Press Ok to save your changes
