RetailEdge Point of Sale Software in a cellular phone store

by RetailEdge Moderator » Wed May 16, 2007 3:04 pm

Many cellular phone/mobile phone stores have asked how to price the cellular phones in RetailEdge point of sale software. The issue is that the phones are typically sold at a price below the cost of the phone and incentives are then given to the retailer for signing the customer up for service.

We recommend that you put the true Cost and selling price into RetailEdge. This will look a little strange when running a report. However, this will allow you to show the true loss everytime a phone is sold. You can also create an item with 0 cost and 0 price for the service sold to allow you to track that the phone was sold at a loss with the service.

When the Vendor sends the check for the service contracts sold, then this check should be entered into your accounting program against sales and if you want in a similar subaccount of sales for the phone department. This will allow you to track your true profit for selling the phones from a particular vendor.
