Using the Physical Inventory Collection Devices

by RetailEdge Moderator » Wed May 16, 2007 2:54 pm

The general steps for using a data collection terminal with the Physical Inventory Collection System (PICS) are as follows:

    1. Print desired inventory reports (at least a Summary Inventory Report).

    2. Delete data out of the Portable Data Terminal (PDT) (if desired)

    3. Enter items into the PDT.

    4. Transfer data from the PDT.

    5. Import the transferred data file into RetailEdge.

    6. Print out PICs reports.

    7. Perform a RetailEdge Backup.

    8. Zero Out Inventory (Optional). If you are zeroing out your inventory you should run a physical inventory report prior to Step 9 to ensure that you have zeroed out the items that you think you have zeroed out.

    9. Update Inventory.

    10. Print desired inventory reports (at least a Summary Inventory Report).

More detailed instructions are included with the RetailEdge Help file. This can be accessed by choosing Help Contents from the Help menu and performing a search on PICS.
