Since Apple released the news about the iPhone 6 and Apple Pay, we have received lots of questions about whether RetailEdge Point of Sale Software supports Apple Pay.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is Apple's secure version of NFC (Near Field Communications). This is technology that has been around for awhile (gas station fobs, Google Wallet). Apple has added some security features and built the technology into their new iPhone 6 to allow iPhone owners to pay for items with their phone by quickly waving the phone over a payment terminal.
When it's released and if you want it.
We are working with our processing partners and expect to support Apple Pay with some of our partners when Apple Pay is officially released in October.
Just like any Apple product, this will most likely drive consumer demand. So you may be asked by your customers whether you accept Apple Pay. When you get these requests, just contact us and we can give you the details.
