How do I change Prices Quickly in RetailEdge

by RetailEdge Moderator » Fri Mar 25, 2011 2:24 pm

RetailEdge has the ability to track 5 different price levels for each item. This can be useful for customer discounting if your inventory items have significantly different margins. So you can give a customer a price level 2 discount, that might represent a 5% discount on items that have a smaller margin, but a 20% discount on items with higher margins.

Having multiple prices for an inventory items has the above advantages but if you don't need price levels then you can set some location defaults to automatically copy price values into the other price level fields. This can be done by editing your location (Tools|Settings|Locations). On the Miscellaneous tab of the Location Editor you have the following options:

    Inventory Manual Price Updating

    · Only the selected select price
    · Copy the Price 1 value to ALL price levels for the SELECTED location.
    · Copy the Price 1 value to ALL price levels for ALL locations.

This pricing option will effect how price changes are populated on purchase orders, in receiving and inventory. Also if you have selected to copy the value to all locations, this will apply to Cost information in receiving and purchase orders.

If you want some additional help setting pricing for an item, you can use the Price Calculator.

    Using the Price Calculator

To calculate prices based on a specific margin or discount percent:

    1. Press the Price Calc. button. The price calculator will display the cost, all price levels and the discount and margin for each price level.

    2. If you want to have all pricing the same, fill in the cost, suggested retail. Adjust the margin if you need to and press the Copy Retail button.

    3. If you want to further adjust pricing, changing the cost or price will automatically change the margin. Changing the Margin will automatically calculate the price and discount percent. Changing the discount will automatically calculate a new price and margin.

    4. When you are done, press the Ok button.

    5. Continue to do this for all locations or if you want all locations to have the same pricing structure, highlight the one of the prices for the location you want to copy and press the Copy Prices button.

    Using the Copy Prices button

If you are working in a multiple location business and you want to change the pricing for other locations use the Copy Prices button.

    1. Add the inventory item as you normally would.

    2. On the Price tab, enter the Suggested Retail price for the item.

    3. Press the Enter key to post the price(s).

    4. Optionally use the arrow keys to move to other price fields and fill in any other price levels you want.

    5. Press the Copy Prices button. RetailEdge will copy the location prices to all other locations.

If you are working in a single location business pressing the Copy Prices button will copy the highlighted price level to all other price levels.

Once the pricing is filled in RetailEdge will display the margin and discount percent for the particular price if it is highlighted.
