No. RetailEdge will print barcode labels, but you do not need a bar-code scanner to sell or receive the items. RetailEdge inventory labels identify the item in three ways:
1. the stock number
2. the RetailEdge item number
3. the barcode (a representation of the item number)
So, if you do not have a scanner, then you can either type in the Stock Number or the RetailEdge item number.
Note: If you are using the item's standard UPC barcode and not labeling your items with a RetailEdge label, it will be easier and quicker to scan the item's bar code than to type in the manufacturer's 12 digit UPC.
