My PINPad with OpenEdge Stopped Working

by RetailEdge Moderator » Fri Aug 18, 2017 12:01 pm

If you are using the OpenEdge integration to process credit cards, you may find your PINPad has stopped working. This is because OpenEdge was acquired by Global Payments and they have been switching all of their accounts to Global. The PINPads you use are injected with a key that is processor specific and so switching processors will make these devices stop functioning properly. In addition the manufacturer (Verifone) end of lifed these devices (1000SE). So you can't replace the devices with a new one or re-inject your existing one.

OpenEdge should have sent everyone a letter explaining this and letting you know that some equipment may stop working. In addition they will send you form so that you can order new equipment. If you choose to order new equipment, please be aware that this equipment will be a separate stand-alone device (VX520) and does not integrate with RetailEdge.

If you want to continue to have credit card processing integrated with RetailEdge and PINDebit (along with other features like EMV, ApplePay etc.) please contact us about your options going forward.
