Anthony Cares... Recovering Lost Files after Windows 10 Upgrade

Hi everyone! Being that the end is near for the Free Windows 10 upgrade, I noticed some of you have lost some old files once you had upgraded. If you decide to upgrade, please remember to backup your data.

When the system takes the Windows 10 upgrade, it creates a folder that the system will keep for 30 days with your old files in it. This is so you can return to your previous version of Windows if have an issue with Windows 10. However, if you wanted to keep Windows 10 and need some of your old files back you can by following the steps below:

Open Windows Explorer (press Windows/Command Key and E key at the same time) | select This PC from the menu on the right | Select Local Disk (C:) | select Windows.old

Within that folder you will have to dig for and locate whatever files you would like to recover.

If you have lost any applications it is highly recommended to reinstall them rather than copying them from the Windows.old directory (unless you are recovering an application installer i.e. from the downloads directory.)
