    chipped cards

    by wildman » Tue Jul 07, 2015 2:26 pm

The newest update today 7/7/15 said some changed about the EMF (chipped cards) but did not specify what the changes are. When will these cards be supported? we are using the Genuis system, but have seen nothing about the cards yet. Merchant Warehouse says the Genius supports them, but I don't believe it has been implemented yet. If it has, how does it work?

The change was just more to get ready for EMV. Here is the current status with Cayan (changing very rapidly).

    1. The Genius device will accept a chip card. But Cayan is still getting certified.
    2. The POS (RetailEdge) needs to be able to print different information on a receipt when a chip card is accepted. That is the change that was made to RetailEdge. You are not accepting chip cards so you would not see this.
    3. There are a number of other changes that need to be made before we can accept chip cards (e.g., how we process multiple cards, accept tips, and post declined transactions).

We will be notifying everyone when it has been certified and released.

Let us know if you need more.
