I've successfully installed RetailEdge 8.0 and everything seems to be running correctly.

How do I convert or import data from RetailEdge 7.5?

The RetailEdge 8.0 installation includes a program that will convert or import your 7.5 data to RetailEdge 8.0. The program is called Convert_To_8_0.exe.

Following these steps to import your 7.5 data into 8.0:

1) Start Windows Explorer and navigate to RetailEdge's program folder. This is usually going to be "c:\Program Files\High Meadow Business Solutions\RetailEdge 8.0".

2) Start the Convert_To_8_0 program.

3) You will need to indicate whether you are importing from RetailEdge 7.5 or from RetailEdge 4.2 (DOS). Also, you will need to provide the folder path of where your old RetailEdge data is stored.

4) When ready, click on the OK button and follow the instructions.


PLEASE NOTE:

The conversion program is a one way import into your new 8.0 data. It only reads from your 7.5 data and will not edit or change your 7.5 data. It does overwrite your 8.0 data but it will not touch 7.5 data.

This allows you to do "trial" imports. You can run a conversion and test the results. At the same time you can continue to use 7.5. Once you are ready to make the "official" move, just run the conversion program again.

Also, two other issues to consider. First, the conversion can take a long time, perhaps several hours depending on your hardware. It is probably best to run the conversion overnight.

Second, there is no way to go back to 7.5. While the conversion does not destroy your 7.5 data, please keep in mind that once you start adding data to RetailEdge 8.0, there is no way to move that data back to 7.5.
