ok. So two questions.

First, where are all the inventory filtering options? For instance being able to filter by quantity, or a partial description, or where retail price is over or under a certain amount?

Also, what happened to incremental search at the sales screen. I have found certain items (that we dont sell enough of to make a quicklist item) are easiest to locate by searching for a combination of letters that are found in only a few of our item descriptions, and then clicking the exact one i want as it is narrowed down on the list.

I honeslty hope that i am just missing something and that my questions can be answered by a simple RTFM. But if not, then we need these features back, otherwise the gains of 8.0 wont be worth the losses from 7.5

You can filter inventory by description or partial description now. Average cost and cost should not be that hard to add. I will add them tthe suggestion list. Pricing is a little harder. This is contained in a separate file since it is location specific and there are multiple price levels. In an effort to increase performance, we have not added this to the filter list. We are evaluating ways to allow people to filter on these values, but have not found a good balance between performance and displaying prices but are working on it.

We have gotten rid of the incremental search on the sales screen as for performance reasons as well. We found that with a client server architecture, and people using wireless networks and people who have large inventories, the incremental search is too slow to be effective at the point of sale. However, the sales screen lookups are more powerful now. You can still look up an item by typing in only a few of the characters in a description. RetailEdge will quickly display a list of all of the items that contain these characters in whatever you have set for your "Find By" criteria.

The sales screen lookup works as follows

When entering an item in the Find Item box on the Sales Screen, RetailEdge will automatically search the inventory fields in the following order to find the item:

1. Item ID (RetailEdge price label barcode).
2. Stock Number.
3. Current Find By Criteria as listed in the Find By box.
4. List ID
5. UPC1
6. UPC2
7. Alias ID
8. Package ID

If an exact match is found in any of the above listed fields, then RetailEdge will stop the search and add the item to the Sales Screen. If an exact match is not found, RetailEdge will go to the Find By criteria listed in Find By box and perform a partial match search. Partial searches look for text matches from the beginning of the inventory field. If the Interior Pattern Match checkbox on the Find Item(s) screen is checked then RetailEdge will search for the Look For text in any part of the inventory field.

This means you have the flexibility to lookup or enter items into the Sales Screen by scanning or entering any of the criteria above.
