Hey Guys, I have been starting to populate our OS Commerce website, and I know that you will be working on integration for RE. I have a question. I know our Barcodes work off the ITEM #. In OS Commerce there is a Table for a PRODUCTS MODEL #, and I was wondering, instead of me entering our Stock # under the PRODUCTS MODEL #, would it be better to use the ITEM #? The only flag this brings up for me is on MATRIXED Items, since each matrixed item has its own ITEM#, AND the same Stock #.
There is a Prefix spot in the Attributes Tables, maybe using the prefix for the item # and leaving the Stock # as is.. I dunno Im just trying figure out what the best avenue would be for this to try to avoid doing the population twice.. I know yea right! Anyway if you have any ideas, let me know! Thanks!

Each inventory item in the database has its own unique stock number. So if you have a matrix of two items you will have 2 unique items with different Stock Numbers and 2 unique item numbers. For example you might have an item Shirt~XL (Item # 12345) and Shirt~S (Item # 12344).

Not knowing how pages are built using OS Commerce it is hard to tell how you would want to store the data. Thoretically you could store everything as a separate item using the full stock number. Then when you are building pages you would have to have OS commerce be smart enough to create a single page for all "Shirt" and then build a drop down with the sizes and quantities (XL, S). Or you could store the data as one stock number and have an attribute file store the XL and S values with a quantity. Also on the ordering side if you are going to want to post orders back up to RetailEdge, you are going to need to rebuild the Stock Number for RetailEdge using the Page Name (Shirt) and the Value selected by the user in the drop down.
