compare day of week

Hello!
This is our second holiday season so i am anxiously comparing our data from last year to see how we are doing. Is there a way to compare the first Fridays of a month? When you do "compare day" it compares 11/30/13 with 11/30/2014 for example. This compares a Saturday to a Sunday which doesn't help me. I want to see how the last Saturdays compare.

On the Sales by Date Reports (Sales Performance by Date and Sales by Date - Comparative which is the one you are looking for) there are a number of Sort Order Options.

Day,
Hour,
Day of Week
Week
Month
Quarter and
Year.

I think the one you are looking for is Day of Week, not Day.

If I do day of week it compares all Mondays in the month to all the Tuesdays and so on for all the days in the week. I tried that one.

Yeah that is tougher. There is no way to do this other than to run the report for the first week of each month and then compare each report.

So that we can understand better what you are doing, can you explain why this is something you are looking at? Is the 1st of the month a huge day for you?

I'd like to know how each day of the week compares for each month. So how did the day after thanksgiving, a Friday compare from year to year, small business Saturday, the monday before christmas etc. The day is more important than the date. Sundays are slow so comparing them to a Saturday does me no good.how the 3rd Sundays compared to each other is more powerful.

Thanks. That clarifies. Now back to your original issue. Doesn't doing a Day of Week compare for the date range that includes the day in question? For instance if you ran the report for Day of Week using the date Range from 11/23 to 11/29, you would cover most years but you would just need to know the exact date and limit the range so you don't get an overlap. I guess the same would go for Small Business Saturday, etc.
