    EXACT CHANGE button

    by Gallery 54 » Thu May 24, 2012 6:00 pm

Some of the folks I work with seem to think the EXACT CHANGE button is confusing as it should be used for more than just cash. Can this button be changed to EXACT AMOUNT?

    Many thanks.

That's a first. I don't think that this is something that we will be changing anytime soon. This wording has been in the program for quite awhile. Have them think of it this way. This area of the keypad is to identify the amount that the customer is giving you and if the customer is giving you Exact Change, this is what you press. Do people now refer to giving the clerks Exact Amount? (Hold on I have Exact Amount!). Sounds kind of foreign.

Another thing they can do if they don't like the button is just double click or double tap the payment method. This does the same thing.

    Thanks...the double tap should work!

More than one person I was training mentioned this to me. Their point is that CHANGE refers to cash money, while AMOUNT is open to include all tenders. You do not get CHANGE on a check or credit card transaction....you do get CHANGE on a cash transaction. Semantics I guess.

Apparently programming likes your idea. You should get your wish in the next release.
