    Creating & Modifying Invoices

    by dluneau » Wed May 23, 2012 8:56 am

    How are invoices created?

Can invoices be modified? For example, if invoice numbers are generated automatically with each invoice created, can the invoice number be changed to another number or removed?

Can you provide us with a little more information about what you are trying to accomplish? In general sales invoices can not be altered. The ticket number counter is a sequential counter and is controlled for security reasons.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure how Retail Edge invoices but in Quickbooks, the fist invoice I create is invoice 1. The second invoice created is invoice 2 and so on. Quickbooks automatically recognizes the numerical order of invoices but if I wanted to modify invoice 3 to invoice 5 or no invoice number, the program gives me that option.

You are correct. In RetailEdge, ticket numbers are sequential. They can not be changed.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to change the ticket number?

Thanks for replying. I'm researching POS systems for my client. I don't know why they want this flexibility. may be they want to issue an invoice with no number. I don't have a clue. I use QB for my small biz accounting and I use a custom numbering scheme for invoicing. Maybe that's what my client needs. This is dissapointing. I thought I was going to save them thousands of dollars.

    Dusty,

Let us know what the customer says about needing the ability to change ticket numbers. In the short term there is nothing we can do about this. The ticket number is just this a ticket number. But many times when customers or potential customers ask for a feature it is either because they have been doing it this way for years and they are just used to it. Or they don't know our program well enough to know that there are other ways to get the information out of the program they need. For instance, it could be a simple as they want to have the register ID in the ticket. In RetailEdge's case we already track this information in another field.

As you have mentioned RetailEdge will be able to save the customer thousands of dollars over other solutions out there. And we have many features that other solutions like QuickBooks POS don't offer like real time data synchronization between stores or even our Mobile POS Island technology. In addition our operating costs can be significantly less than the other solutions. Our credit card processing partners will meet or beat other solutions rates. And we offer the option of more than one processor so that you can make sure you get the right rates. Quickbooks POS uses Intuit Merchant Services. If you want integration that's what you get and that's not very competitive. Also we provide features and updates to our software on an on-going basis for just $5/workstation/month which we think is a very affordable way of keeping your business updates with the latest changes to the program.
