Puerto Rico has implemented the IVU (Impuesto de Ventas y Uso) Loto control program. The program is a mandatory Island-wide Sales and Use Tax (SUT) program that requires:

Participation by merchants selling certain goods and services and
POS terminals/sysyems to meet IVU Loto standards by May 1, 2011.

Merchants participating in the IVU Loto are required to include a lottery number on their sales
receipts, giving customers the opportunity to win certain prizes to be determined by the Treasury.

The Solution

One of our RetailEdge resellers in Puerto Rico, Alltech Solutions (http://alltechsolutions.com/Retail_System.html) has created a POS solution using RetailEdge POS software, that has been approved to work with the Softek (http://www.softekpr.com) IVU Loto solution and their device the TxPort.

The TxPort is a device that the Department of Treasury has chosen to assure Sales and Use Tax (SUT) is collected and remitted to the Government. This device electronically sends all information related to sales and SUT directly to the Department of Treasury and generates and prints the IVU Loto number on the receipt.
