I've look at the discount rate and did not understand how it works. We would like to sell yogurt 10 for $10 and 9 or less for $1.29, and each case there are more than one flavor that needs to be included in the rule. How would we do it?

For this type of discount you would need to create a Mix and Match discount rule. Create a rule from the Tools|Discount Rules menu item. Call it whatever you want (e.g., 10 for 10 yogurt), select that it will apply to the inventory list and is a discount rule type "Mix and Match". Select a start and end date and time. If you want it to always apply just have a End date way in the future.

On the Rule Settings tab select an X quantity of 10 and a Pay Y Amount of $10.00.

On the Filter Settings tab press the Set Filter Criteria button. On the filter criteria you can do a number of things:

1. Select a Stock Number and scan in the barcode of one of the items or type in a SKU. Continue to add stock numbers that apply, or

2. If you have stock numbers or descriptions that are all the same (like "Yogurtxxx"), then you could just Type in Yogurt and apply this to the Current Filters. Remember that RetailEdge filters are pattern matches from the beginning of the criteria. If you want to have a filter search on the criteria anywhere in the field just put a % in front of the criteria (e.g., %yogurt), or

3. If you had a Yogurt department you could apply a filter for the yogurt department, or

4. You could add some value to any of the five user fields for the inventory items and add this to the filter criteria. This might be useful if you can't find any other criteria that ties all these items together.

Then save it. RetailEdge will go through the inventory and find items that the rule will apply to. Then when these items are sold they will be sold at the normal price ($1.29). When the tenth item is added to the sales screen, RetailEdge will apply the discount rule to all of them and set the price to $1.00 for all. If you remove the tenth one, then the prices will be changed back to $1.29 for all the items.
