    Undeleting PO's causing malfunction

    by CourtneyNHS » Tue May 25, 2010 5:48 pm

    Hi Guys,

We just opened our 5th location, the Arcata retail store. Our Manager there has been noticing something strange happening with her PO function.

    here's the scenario:
When her data base was created they imported the min/maxes from a different store. So her first autogens are coming up with lots of items she doesn't need. She deletes these items from her PO. She sends her order PO to the vendor showing only the items she really needs. Then when the order comes in she receives the PO as usual. Sometimes we need to go back and undelete a completed received PO to look at information in our accounting office. The SNAFU is that when we undelete a PO to look at, all of the originally deleted unneeded items resurface and are shown on the PO again, even though they were deleted completely before (not just putting a zero in the item quantity). What is going on? is it because it is a new location? did something data oriented change already with the last update?

    Sigh,

    Courtney,

What you're seeing is confusing but I don't think there's anything wrong with your data.

The undelete PO function was added to RetailEdge (per a customer suggestion) to help folks chase down "missing" PO information. One limitation with the undelete is that RetailEdge can not distinguish between PO line items that are manually deleted by a user and line items that are deleted when the PO itself is deleted. The undelete will recover all PO lines, no matter how they were deleted.

RetailEdge issues the following warning before allowing users to undelete a PO:
You are attempting to view or modify a deleted purchase order. In order to continue, RetailEdge will have to undelete this PO and all of it''s associated PO line items.

The list of associated items might include lines that were deleted prior to deleting the actual PO. You will need to review the list and re-delete appropriate lines.
It sounds like the root cause of the issue might be that your Min/Max values were copied to the new location from a different location. These values might not be correct for the new location. You might consider resetting min/max values to zero in the new location. This is something that we can do for you by sending an SQL script that you'd run through the RetailEdge SQL_Runner utility. Please let us know if you'd like us to reset these values.

Ok I'll Talk to the store Manager and see what she wants to do. This makes sense.
