QuickBooks Export - How Can I Fix an Export (or Start Over)

by RetailEdge User » Tue Mar 16, 2010 2:00 pm

I made a mistake in my QuickBooks export this morning, and am wanting to delete the deposit and start over. But it doesn't seem like I can delete it in QuickBooks. When I delete it from the register, it still appears in the "Payments to Deposit" screen, and it doesn't seem that I can delete it from that screen. Any suggestions?

During the RetailEdge to QuickBooks export, data gets placed into QuickBooks in two main places: One or more Sales Receipts and a single General Journal Entry. To unwind an export, try the following:

    1) In QuickBooks, go to Reports / Company & Financial / Profit & Loss Standard. Run the report and set the date range to the import date (e.g. yesterday).

    2) Look for the "Total Income" line and double click the amount value.

    3) In the Transaction Detail by Account report, look for any appropriate Sales Receipt entries. Double click on the appropriate sales receipt and then delete the individual sales receipt by pressing Ctrl-D. Repeat for each sales receipt.

    4) In the Transaction Detail by Account report, look for the appropriate General Journal entry. Double click on the General Journal record and then delete the record by pressing Ctrl-D. There is just one journal record for each import.

When done, try re-running the Profit & Loss report to make sure it's "clean".

    Good Luck!
