When trying to merge inventory duplications (a problem we are continuously plagued with) by using the merge function under the tools menu, we often get this error message. I know it refers to the list of aliases RE automaticaly creates and found under the "aliases" tab in inventory manager, but the only way to complete the operation is to delete these aliases. Isn't that counter-productive to the merge itself?

We've been able to recreate the issue you are having. This will only happen when merging a matrix child SKU so the effect is somewhat limited. That said, you're correct, it is inconvenient.

I will write this up and get it into our bug tracking system. Hopefully we'll be able to include a fix in the next release.
