Hello,

We have 4 stores with multiple registers at each store. Sometimes the data between stores, even though they are connected through RECON, is not the same. I noticed this data inconsistency happen after one store had rebuilt their tables but the other stores did not.

This is the e-mail sent to me explaining the problem
Hey Courtney,
"Derek and I just found a very strange glitch in Retail Edge.... We
were cleaning up our transfer order lists, and there is a TO
(TO-2009-11-18-3) that shows up here in McK as posted, but not
complete and not deleted. When I go into items, it shows that it has
in fact not been received by Eureka yet. When Derek looks at his list,
it is deleted. He found it in the deleted TOs list, but it says
complete. This is a really old TO, so it's not Recon.... Have you seen
anything like this before...looking at the same screen in two
different locations and seeing different things?

While trying to figure out why this happens I came across the Verify, Rebuild, and optimize Tables instructions in the RetailEdge help section. On the forums there was a post that recommended to Verify or optimize Tables once Monthly.

Does This process need to happen simultaneously in all locations to keep the data synchronized?

Im wondering if there's a way to have the tables verify and repair/rebuild/optimize themselves Automatically? Optimally I would like this maintenance to occur in the middle of the night when no activity is happening in RE. It takes over 2 hrs usually to verify our tables and requires a person to be there to hit OK if the tables do need to be rebuilt. We need to find a solution that doesn't cost us 4 peoples wages @ two hours each to hit an OK button.

Please define whether repairing and rebuilding are the same thing?
What does verifying do with the data?
What does optimizing do to the data?
