    password

When I logged on my computer this morning and started retail edge, it popped up a box saying I have to change the password, on workstations and server. Never had to set one, ir was default set by retail edge. Does it have to be changed? If so why?

    RetailEdge Location Password

The password warning is part of the PCI Credit Card Security guidelines. RetailEdge is telling you that you have not changed the location password in over a year. Per PCI guidelines, this is too long a period of time. So you should change the location password. After doing so, you will also need to change the corresponding password on each RE workstation that logs into this location.

No super strict guidelines but the password should be at least 7 characters and be a combination of letters and numbers. 15 chars is a good length. One thing to consider that this particular password is a "set and and forget" password. That is, once entered into the location settings and the workstation settings (connection settings), it does not have to be entered again (until next year).
