    Exporting to Quickbooks Pro

    by eyelean54 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:41 pm

Hi- I am a newbe to Retail Edge. We used QB POS before. Retail store-wise all is great. But as Office Mgr- I admit I am confused. Can I reprint a closing report from a past day? Do you have to have a closing report in order to export to QB? Who should be doing the closing report? Should I set up a new QB company to export the RE info to- would that be easier? I need a step by step slower approach to this. Help! eyelean

Here are the answers to your questions. If you need more let us know but this should get you started.

    1. You can reprint any closing report by opening up the Sales Manager screen, highlighting the desired closing and pressing Reprint or Double clicking the line.

    2. Yes you need to close to export to QuickBooks. RetailEdge essentially takes this data as a deposit over to QB. You can select multiple closings as well to export to one deposit so that your entries into Quickbooks more closely match your bank statements. RetailEdge will also take over payment method information so that you can get some resolution on deposits from credit cards (AMEX typically hits your account later than VISA/MC).

    3. Clerks typically do the closing at night when they count the drawers at night. The clerks are responsible for making the corrections and adjustments before posting the closing. However, some customers do the closing in the back office after hours (or the next day) and so the clerk just brings the locked tray to the back and the count is done then. This is done to minimize mistakes and sometimes prevent theft. Also you need to determine how your credit card processing is posting the sales. Sometimes this is done automatically each night other times you are responsible for posting them. If you have them being posted automatically then you need to have the closing run on the same day to prevent mistakes from occurring. The way you do it depends on what works best for you.

    5. You could setup a new company if this works best. You should do an export into the Sample Company QB file provided in the RetailEdge installation folder and see how the data comes over. I think this will give you a better idea of what you want to do going forward.

    6. Here is a topic on exporting to QuickBooks that should help
