Phantom User reported doing Backup/Restore

When I backup or restore I get a message saying another user is logged in - do I want to continue ?
This wasn't a problem until I tried to do a restore that started and failed about halfway through.
I think the two problems are related. The backup I was trying to restore restored sucessfully on another
PC I use as a spare and training DB. Any ideas would be appreciated.

John,

This can happen during a bad restore or even when people do not properly log out of a workstation and then load RetailEdge on another computer.

To fix the problem you should:

1. Open the workstation list by choosing Workstations from the Tools|Settings menu option.
2. Press Ctrl-Alt-P (Purge). RetailEdge will ask you if you want to continue to Purge users from the Ret_Users table.
3. Press Yes.

Let us know if this does not work for you. But it should take care of it.

I am running version 8.0xx of the software and don't get the purge message by pressing CTR-ALt- P
I was holding off doing the update until my physical inventory was done - it's complete.
I have 8.1XX installed on another training PC and CTR-ALt- P brings up the purge prompt. I am a little
hesitant to simply go ahead and do the update, because the restore function is not working
in my live database. I have verified my backups are good by sucessfully restoring into my training DB.
I thought my restore problem might be related to the phantom user in my live DB.
Any advice ? Thanks, John

Good call. You should not do the update if you are trying to restore in 8.0 data. We have made some changes to the data base and older data will not be restored into the 8.1. You probably have something else going on. Are you getting a particular error message? If so let me know.

If you contact technical support they will usually have you send a backup to them so that they can see what the problem might be.
