    SMP Pricing Announcement

by RetailEdge Moderator » Mon Dec 08, 2008 3:17 pm

The Software Maintanance Plan (SMP) has been implemented for about a month now.

    SMP Pricing

The SMP is working out to be a great program and does the following:

Allows us to continually improve the program and distribute these improvements out to our customers in a timely fashion.
Allows our customers to benefit from new features immediately instead of having to wait for years for an update.
Allows our customers to participate in the software maintenance process by providing suggestions.
Provides a significant savings for customers on the SMP over a traditional upgrade.

In the past our major feature upgrade have been 1/2 the price of purchasing the software new. The major feature updates have been released every 1.5 to 2 years. The savings by being on the SMP is illustrated in the table below.

    Roll-Up Fee

To make it fair to the customers on the SMP and to make the pricing more in line with traditional upgrade pricing, customers getting on the SMP after January 1, 2009 will be required to pay for the missed months on the SMP and $5.00 per workstation for each month not on the SMP. So the sooner you get on the SMP the more you will save.

    Service Plans

The SMP is included with the Service Plan. So customers who are on the maintenance plan, never need to worry about paying for another RetailEdge upgrade again. The roll-up fee will be required for customers to getting on a service plan after January 1, 2009. Since the service plan customers are receiving updates as a part of the Service plan, getting on a service plan will have an additional charge for the SMP roll-up.

    SMP Features

What kinds of things are being considered for feature upgrades in the near future?

    To name a few:

    Recurring batch billing programs
Late charges for House Accounts and Layaways
    Activity and ToDo tracking
    Additional discounting methods.
