RetailEdge Point of Sale Software allows a great deal of flexibility when creating Customer IDs. Everyone does it a little differently. You can use a number if this works best for you. In some club membership applications they create customer IDs based on the last name and number (B-25, F-45, etc.).

Other businesses use a random number for their customer ID. RetailEdge can automatically assign a random number for you when creating a new customer by pressing the AutoID button.

We use First Name Last Name or if a company is involved, the Company Name. This gives you the ability to type in the customer's last or first name or company name on the Sales Screen and automatically perform a quick search on the customer.

You can change the Customer ID at any time. This can be helpful if you are assigning Membership IDs from cards. More information about this can be found at:
