We had a customer call to let us know about a performance issue he was having (no not that kind). He had a computer with Google Desktop installed and reported that RetailEdge was running slowly. He uninstalled Google Desktop and his RetailEdge system started to run much faster.

This reason for this may be that Google Desktop was trying to index RetailEdge database files in realtime. This could possibly slow dow the RetailEdge Database Server since the database files are constantly changing. We've seen the same type of issue with some security software which scans all files before access. Setting the security software to ignore RetailEdge database tables significantly speeds up system access in many circumstances.

Does this apply to both servers and client machines???

We don't know for sure. I suspect it would be more of an issue for a server machine and not so much for a client. Hard telling, not knowing, though.
