A couple of additional items regarding setting up the Metrologic MS2300 scales.
1. The scale needs to be a dual cable scale. The Scale is RS232 and the Scanner is USB. The scale needs to be configured to work properly with this configuration and does not work this way out of the box. There is a document that is located at
ftp://ftp.highmeadow.com/pub/Support/MS ... _EPOS2.pdf. To configure the scale you should:
a. Scan the
EPOS Protocol barcode on Page 3 of this document and then Scan the
Save Data barcode.
b. Scan the
FS USB Keybd Intern barcode on Page 5 then test the scanner in Notepad.
2. The naming of the OPOS ID and the OPOS Name need to match what is in the OPOS Driver. The Device Class (Scale) is used in the OPOS ID prefaced with OPOS. (OPOS.Scale). The Metrologic Profile Name should match the OPOS Name in RetailEdge or MetScale2 In the screenshots below. You can name it whatever you want. The rest of the profile settings you can see int the screenshots.
After you have done this you should be able to run a Detailed Test in the
Metrologic OPOS Administrator. You would
Open,
Claim and
Enable the scale. You should then be able to Read a weight by pressing the
Read Weight button. If there is nothing on the scale you will get a Timeout value. If you can't get the scale setup at this point, you should call Metrologic (Honeywell) technical support.
To make sure that the scale and scanner work in RetailEdge, you should:
1. Enter an item into the RetailEdge POS sales screen. Then press the Scale button (or F12). RetailEdge will then attempt to communicate with the scale and will read the weight. You can have this work more automatically if you Check
Sales Screen: Automatically Use Scale checkbox on the
Miscellaneous tab of the inventory editor when creating an item.
2. If you get an errror code 104 error, you should check which version of RetailEdge you are using. This scale does not support a Async Mode (Asynchronous communication). RetailEdge prior to Version 8.1.3 was trying to turn off the Async mode and the Metrologic driver did not allow turning it off if it is already off.
