I know, off topic and I don't know where else to post this.

I've only been here a short time and I can see that you guys have a problem with spammers registering and making posts with bots.

The latest versions of PHPBB have Captcha technology to help prevent bots from registering and posting spam.

The other night I decided to try browsing the memberlist to see if anyone in my neck of the woods 1) said they are from my neck of the woods and 2) is using RetailEdge. There might be several 100 legit users, but there are 1000s of obvious spam bot generated users with new and old accounts, but no posts.

We are using the latest release of phpBB - version 2.0.22. There is a new Release Candidate, 3.0.RC7, but it is not considered production stable at this point.

We do have many bots and spammers registering and it is an irritation. The current version of phpBB has Captcha capabilities - you had to fill out a form using one - but some more sophisticated bots have the ability to read and/or interpret the images.

As soon as the new phpBB version is complete, we will be upgrading.
