If you want to create membership or loyalty cards in RetailEdge 8.0, then you should:

1. Create or purchase membership cards with a barcode or magnetic strip on the back. The numbering system can be any set of numbers. Card manufacturers will typically create a series starting with some number in the millions (or billions). They will then keep a record of the last number created so that when you reorder they will just start the new numbers at the highest number in the last set plus one.
2. Create a customer interest for the membership program and associate the customers who are in the membership program with the interest. This will allow you to better track the member sales in the future.
3. Give the membership customers a percentage discount. Or if you have only a few items that members can purchase at a discount, you can control this by giving the customer a price level discount (e.g., price level 2). Then their discount can be controlled item by item.

When a customer is given a membership card, then you will swipe or scan the card into the CustomerID field to assign this card number to the customer. If it is an existing customer, you can edit the existing customer ID and change it to the card value.
