Need ability to set promo code on sales screen by line item

Problem with setting promo code on the main "customer" screen is when you print a report for particular promotions, it totals the complete sale. We often send coupons for individual items, so if a coupon was used for one $20 item within a $500 sale, the Promotion report inaccurately leads you to believe that the promo generated $500 sales. Would like to be able to assign a code to individual items, for more accuracy.

Is anything in the works to make the promotion codes more useful or easier to use?
We would LOVE to have the promo code on the item screen as on most sales we don't know until the end of the sale that a customer is using a coupon or has a rewards card.

Would it be possible to have the system ASK for promo code when a discount is applied??

A promotion code is a per sale type information. We have moved the promotion code to the payment screen on the new Sales Touch Screen. You can use this new screen by choosing Sales -Touch from the Register menu in RetailEdge. If want to continue to use is as your default, you can set it as your default on the Misc tab of the Location editor (Tools|Settings|Locations)

Thanks I will work this screen to see if it will work for us...we don't use touchscreen at this point.
Any chance you will move the promo code for the non-touch sales screen? Perhaps it could be in both places if that makes programming easier ( sheepish grin)

I haven't tried to work on touchscreen sales before and I am glad to hear the good news about this! The payment screen through both sale screens would be better definitely! This thread helps me a lot!
