Installing on Primary Workstation

Postby vbron » Tue Jul 10, 2012 9:37 pm

Our old computer is on it's last legs so we are trying to install Version 8.1 on our new HP Pavilion laptop, but we aren't having any luck. The Server Connection Settings all appear correct, we've created a rule in the firewall to open the necessary ports (as well as turned it off completely), we've uninstalled our anitvirus and we can ping the remote IP address 127.0.0.1 no problem. However, we CANNOT authorize the new computer's local IP from the Tools/Administration menu item in the RetailEdge Server Status Program. We get the error message "Error while trying to connect to server." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing I would try is to maker sure the RetailEdge Server service is running on the machine.
You can do this by choosing Run from the Windows menu and typing in services.msc. If you don't see the service then it probably means that you did a client only installation. You will need to do a full client server installation. If it exists and is not running, try to start it. If it does not start then it would typically point to AV software. If you need additional help feel free to call us for technical support.
