    Hello everyone! Looking at calls over the last year, something popped out at me. Several callers had secondary comments like “I wish RetailEdge would land on the items tab in the sales screen” or “items are loading really slow in the sales screen." Well we can help you with that.

    Below you'll find how to toggle on and off certain functions in Workstation's "Misc." tab.

    1. Select Tools | Settings | Workstations.

    2. Highlight the Workstation you want to modify and select Modify from the workstations list screen.

    3. Select Misc form the tabs in the Edit Workstations screen.

    4. The QuickBooks File Name is for if you are looking to integrate with QuickBooks. You can learn more about that here.

    5. Toggles:

    a. Sales – Suppress QTY Lookups (Better Performance) toggle. Speeds up RetailEdge if it has been running slow.

    b. Entering items into the sales screen? Running older hardware and want to get better performance having items load into the sales screen? Select this toggle

    c. Sales – Warn user when item not available toggle. Taking an order over the phone and you haven’t checked your inventory level? Toggle this on. Selling an item and tired of seeing the Warning that the item quantity is 0 or less? Toggle this off (you may want to consider doing a physical or fixing your stock type)
    Note: This toggle will not work if you have the Sales – Suppress QTY Lookups (Better Performance) toggled on.

    d. Sales – Customer is Required toggle. Are you looking to gather better customer info? This toggle would prevent a sale from posting until a customer is attributed to it.

    e. Sales – Skip Customer (Land on Items Tab) toggle. Are you not entering Customers into the sales screen? Toggle this off for better workflow but keep in mind better sales data leads to better customer service…

    f. Sales – Pop Drawer for House Charges toggle. This is here because a certain customer requested it.

    g. Sales – Returns can NOT be mixed with Sales. If you want to keep Return transactions segregated from Sales transactions toggle this on.

    h. Sales – Auto Delete Completed Saved Sales. This will help with the housekeeping in Recall sale/Sales Mgr.

    i. General – Allow Running Multiple Copies or RetailEdge toggle. We recently added this to prevent dongle conflicts. If you find it necessary to run multiple copies of RetailEdge, toggle this off. Note: If you are using hardware dongles RetailEdge may go into demo mode.

    6. Reset Starting Cash field: This is where if you open a register with the wrong starting cash you would be able to correct it before the close.

    7. Sales Screen Type: This is where you can set the workstation to use either the Traditional or Touch-based sales screen.
