QUESTION: What type of Receipt Printer do I need?

ANSWER: The type of receipt printer you need is based on the type of store you have and what functionality you want. Receipt printers can be impact dot matrix type or thermal. Thermal printers nice because they are fast and quiet. Typically higher end stores that don't want the noise associated with an impact printer will purchase these. The disadvantage of a thermal printer is that the paper is more expensive (about 3X regular paper stock).

Imact printers are nice because they are typically less expensive. Ninety percent of the printers we sell are the impact type and these work well in most situations. Just like any other printer, if you want more speed from your impact printer, you are going to pay for it.
